This rooftop courtyard renovation for Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, funded in part by donations in support of healthcare workers during COVID, created a peaceful outdoor environment for hospital staff and visitors to use during lunch breaks or as an alternate, fresh air waiting area.
The new patio space features multiple planters, custom built black locust benches (with underseat lighting) and privacy fences, a decorative 36” Stone Forest natural millstone water fountain, and an automatic irrigation system. Twelve individual tree planters placed around the courtyard’s perimeter define the relaxing “Serenity Garden.”
