Lantz Construction has recently handled multiple projects for the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro, and specifically, this summer, a crew has been busy constructing four new bird enclosures, which are all part of the Center’s “Great Rebuild” undertaking in 2021.

The Wildlife Center of Virginia was established in 1982 and provides quality health care to native wildlife, often on an emergency basis.  After nearly three decades in the same location, certain areas and enclosures were in desperate need of either repair or complete reconstruction in order to properly protect the Center’s patients and its non-releasable, educational “ambassador” animals, reptiles, and birds of prey.

To date, areas of focus for our construction crews have included the WCV’s bear pit, flight pen, aviary buildings, and main office, as well as its extensive grounds.

As a veterinary hospital, the WCV is not open to the public; however, free tours are offered at certain times throughout the year.  Those tours and other in-person programs are currently suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions, but hopefully that will change soon.

Every year, thousands of wild animals arrive at the Wildlife Center of Virginia in need of care.  For more information about the WCV, click the link above for the website or visit the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wildlifecenter.
