At its core, our “Touring Our Towns” series was created to feature and pay tribute to the various towns and cities that make the Shenandoah Valley such a great place to live. Undoubtedly, COVID-19 has greatly impacted us all, but what remains is our resilience and sense of community. Therefore in May 2020’s segment of “Touring Our Towns”, we highlight the historic city of Staunton, Virginia. Showcased is its rich history, unique charm, and the current ways in which it is responding to the pandemic in order for the city to rebound stronger than ever!

Called the Queen City, Staunton is the birthplace of former President Woodrow Wilson, home to the renowned Statler Brothers, and is nationally credited with creating the city-manager form of government.

From museums and shops to local restaurants and galleries, it is no wonder Stauntonians are proud to call the city home.

And now, many local resources and efforts are creatively assisting residents to ensure Staunton rebounds stronger than ever.

Organizations such as the Staunton Creative Community Fund, the Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, and the City of Staunton, have come together to help.

The city’s residents are also providing overwhelming support by shopping local.

Through these combined efforts, the historic city of Staunton will continue to prosper!
