People Places is a private, non-profit agency that provides foster care and adoption services. Because children are frequent visitors, our design-build team understood the client’s need for a new office that was not only functional, but that also provided a welcoming and comfortable environment. The finished story-and-a-half structure, with its dormers, shutters, and gabled porch entryway, accomplishes that objective by appearing less like a commercial office building and more like a home.
Inside, on the first floor, are a reception area, training room, two visitation rooms (with one-way mirrored glass window between), kitchen, four offices, work area, and two restrooms; upstairs are two additional offices, a file room, two restrooms, a mechanical room, and bonus space that would be ideal for one or two future offices, if needed.
The common areas have painted drywall ceilings and walls, wood base trim with either carpet tiles or luxury vinyl floor tiles, while the offices on the first floor have acoustical ceiling tiles and vinyl base trim; attractive 15-pane French doors open into the two visitation rooms as well as the training room.
The building’s exterior features brick veneer, vinyl siding on the dormers, shake siding on the porch gable, and asphalt shingles on the roof, which is all set off by white porch columns and white trim.
