Mt. Crawford, VA – 1,206 sf guardhouse; 112,750 sf detention pond +
This project consisted of construction of a new 67’ x 18’ guardhouse and truck traffic improvements as well as extensive upgrades to the approx. 550′ x 205′ detention pond to correct soil and erosion issues. Work on the detention pond was a significant portion of the overall project and included a new clay liner over the entire basin and forebay.
This new multi-purpose structure houses not only the guardhouse from which traffic is controlled via barrier arm gates, but also a Driver Lounge, Transfer Room, Shipping Office with four workstations and IT infrastructure for shipping operations, and two restrooms. Features include bulletproof CMU wall, door, and window.
Traffic improvements included installation of two new asphalt trucker parking/trailer staging lots, which resulted in approximately 100 additional spaces.
